Francis Ogolla, the Chief of Defence Forces, has passed away due to a helicopter crash in Kaben, Marakwet East, on Thursday.
The incident claimed the lives of 11 others, including high-ranking officers, with only one survivor reported.
The tragic accident occurred during a reconnaissance mission preceding a planned deployment against cattle rustlers.
The helicopter, carrying officials, including those from the Ministry of Defence, burst into flames upon crashing shortly after takeoff from a local primary school.
