
A prominent Catholic priest, Reverend Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, met an untimely demise while staying at a hotel in Murang’a County.
The renowned clergyman, who faithfully served as the parish priest of St. Peter’s Church in Ruai, was discovered lifeless after reportedly losing consciousness.
According to an official police report, Fr. Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, aged 43, arrived at the hotel on Friday night, accompanied by a 32-year-old woman.
The document disclosed that the deceased cleric, known as Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, a.k.a. Fr. Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, was a respected member of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, diligently serving his spiritual community while also tending to his agricultural endeavors in the Mangu region.

Eyewitnesses revealed that a distressing incident unfolded the following morning, at approximately 8 am, when the woman, who was identified as Fr. Kariuki’s colleague at their workplace in Ruai, alerted the hotel staff about his worsening condition.
Alarmed by his dizziness and unconsciousness, they promptly sought medical assistance, hastening to a nearby hospital for urgent intervention.
Tragically, their desperate efforts were in vain. Fr. Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku’s lifeless body, still seated in his sleek black Toyota Harrier, was pronounced dead upon their arrival at Kenol hospital.
Disturbing details emerged as investigators discovered the lifeless body, partially covered by a hotel bedsheet, with white foam ominously emanating from his mouth and nose, indicating a potentially sinister cause of death.
Promptly responding to the disheartening turn of events, local law enforcement swiftly launched a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Fr. Kariuki’s demise.
Authorities have subsequently relocated the deceased priest’s body to the Mater Hospital mortuary in Nairobi, where it will undergo an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.
The results of this examination will play a pivotal role in guiding future investigative actions.
