Friday 30th, December 2022: Bungoma Senator David Wafula Wakoli has been sworn into the Office as a senator.
He was elected on December 8th, 2022 to replace Hon. Moses Wetangula, who was elected Speaker of National Assembly after the August 9 General Election.
The by-election was conducted on December 8 and David Wakoli of Ford Kenya party was declared the winner of the Bungoma senate seat.
Wakoli garnered 66,032, Mwambu Mabonga of UDA got 45,901 while Wafula Wamunyinyi of DAP-K got 20,519.
Senators and Member of Parliament have welcomed the new senator of Bungoma to the Senate. Gusii Digital News has compiled some of the good will messages;

Sen. Wambua: We used to sit with Sen. Wetangula, he was a star. Sen. Wakoli, you have your work cut out since Sen. Wetangula set the bar high. Please maintain and raise the bar higher.
Sen. Maanzo: Sen. Wakoli is replacing Speaker Wetangula who was an astute member of this house.
