United Progressive Alliance candidate Amos Nyaribo in the just concluded general elections was re-elected Governor of Nyamira County.Nyaribo, who is the incumbent, was announced the winner after garnering 82,090 votes.
His closest challenger Walter Osebe Nyambati of UDA garnered 49,281 votes. ODM’s Timothy Bosire came third by polling 35,754 votes.
Political History
His Excellency Hon. Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo is the second Governor of Nyamira County. He took the mantle to lead the county after the death of the first Governor, The late H.E. Hon John Obiero Nyagarama on 18th December, 2020. H.E. Hon. Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo was sworn in on 29th December, 2020 at Nyamira Primary grounds.
Until his entry into elective politics, Governor Amos Nyaribo who is a chartered Accountant, worked in Government and non-state organizations in senior managerial positions.
He first took a shot at politics in 2007 when he unsuccessfully contested for the North Mugirango Borabu parlimentary seat.
In 2013 together with the late H.E. Hon John Obiero Nyagarama, they were elected as Governor and Deputy Governor respectively in the 2013 general election.
Prior to the 2017 elections Nyaribo had made up his minds to vie against Governor Nyagarama on an Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket. In the last minutes of submitting nomination papers to the Independent Electral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in 2017, he changed his minds and instead became Nyagarama’s running mate.
Career and Education
Besides being a public servant, Governor Nyaribo is a multi-talented and influential entrepreneur who has successfully started, grown and managed various enterprises in diverse sectors ranging from Dry Cleaning, Real Estate Development among others.
Born in Magwagwa, North Mugirango constituency, Nyamira County H.E. Hon. Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo is a chartered Accountant with a Bochelor of Commerce degree. In his free time, he enjoys travelling and socializing through various groups including golf, soccer and swimming.
