Nyamira County Governor Amos Nyaribo has set aside Ksh 24 million to support KMTC students of 2023 Cohort. Speaking after the launch of the kitty, Nyaribo said the funds will also be utilized in improving the infrastructure of KMTC of Nyamira.
“We have committed a sum of KSh. 24 million to cater for needy students joining the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in the next financial year 2023”, Nyaribo said.
The funds will support the needy students for a period of 3 years ( Full Scholarship ).
“Establishing a revolving fund to support needy students is very key, the fund will support 300 needy students from Nyamira County for a period of three years”, Nyaribo noted .
Part of the Ksh 24 million will be used in face lifting facilities at KMTC Nyamira for swift learning of the students.
“My government shall also provide necessary support to improve facilities at our Nyamira KMTC .We will closely collaborate with the KMTC to develop requisite infrastructure to ensure smooth learning”, Governor Nyaribo said.
The governor also asked KMTC Board to add more courses to Nyamira KMTC and place students there.
“We also ask the KMTC Board to add more courses and give priority to the local in admissions to the campus for the benefit of Nyamira County residents”, Nyaribo said.
The delegation from KMTC was led by the CEO, Dr. Kelly Oluoch and Chairperson KMTC Board Zachary Muburi Nyita and other board members.
Nyamira County CECM for Health Dr.Ombati Mokua also was present .
