In the Bonchari Constituency of Kisii County, a tragic incident unfolded on Monday night as a team of nine unidentified individuals stormed a local general store in Suneka.
The targeted store, where Peter Nyaende Monga worked as a 60-year-old security guard, became the scene of a fatal shooting.
According to the official police report, the assailants forcefully entered the shop, brandishing AK47 rifles and pistols.
Chaos ensued as they recklessly fired gunshots into the air, creating panic and terror among the store’s employees and customers.

In the midst of the commotion, Peter Nyaende Monga was tragically struck by a bullet in the back, resulting in his untimely death.
The security guard valiantly attempted to protect the premises, but he ultimately fell victim to the brutal attack.
The audacious criminals brazenly proceeded with their rampage, causing further havoc.
Some of them forcibly entered an adjacent Mpesa booth, where they discovered the attendant in the midst of tallying the day’s earnings.
Meanwhile, their accomplices continued their indiscriminate shooting, targeting the store’s frightened employees.
Eventually, the assailants made their escape from the scene of the crime, absconding on motorbike taxis, commonly known as boda bodas.
Their loot, consisting of an undetermined sum of money, was successfully seized during the chaos, leaving the authorities uncertain of the exact amount stolen.
Amidst this harrowing ordeal, two of the store’s workers, Vivian Ouru and her cousin Edwin Maronga, sustained severe injuries.
Vivian, a 24-year-old employee, suffered a right hand injury, while Edwin, aged 26, endured head injuries caused by a blunt object.
Both victims were swiftly transported to the Marble Hospital in Suneka, where they are currently receiving medical treatment and care.
Tragically, Peter Nyaende Monga’s life was cut short by the violent raid on the Suneka general store.
His body was transported to the Nyangena hospital mortuary, where it now rests, awaiting further investigation and the somber final rites that will mark the end of his life.
The entire community stands shaken by this shocking incident, as they mourn the loss of a dedicated security guard who tragically fell in the line of duty.
Meanwhile, the local authorities have launched an intensive investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, ensuring that justice is served for the heinous crimes committed in Suneka.
