Nyeri, Kenya, Jan 11- 2881 Police Constables graduated yesterday at the Police College, Kiganjo, Nyeri County.
The event marked the end of the nine months Recruits Basic Training Course at National Police College Main-Campus Kiganjo, with a colourful ceremony that was aired live on KBC Channel One and officiated by H.E Dr.William Samoei Ruto, C.G.H., President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces.
The President who arrived aboard Kenya Airforce chopper in the morning was received by the CS Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Inspector General-NPS, Mr. Japhet Koome, DIG-KPS Mr. Edward Mbugua, and the Commandant Mr. Bruno Shioso, AIG among other senior officers.
Addressing the audience, the President urged the new Police Officers to serve the public with integrity and professionalism, symbolic of the police uniform and badge of honor.
The Head of State also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to improving the terms and conditions of service of Police Officers in the country.
On his part, the IG congratulated the new Officers for successfully completing the rigorous training.
Present during the event were the Governor of Nyeri, Hon. Mutahi Kahiga, PS Ministry of Interior, Dr. Raymond Omollo, DIG- APS, Mr. Noor Gabow, Director DCI Mr. Mohammed Amin, NPS Directors, the clergy among other dignitaries.
Several family members and friends also turned up to witness the special ceremony of their loved ones.
The President awarded Recruit Constables Owen Ndemo and Charity Owino with the prestigious Canes of Honor for being the Best All Round male and female recruits respectively.
Also awarded were Recruit Constables James Mumo and Joseph Chaga who received trophies for the Best All Round in Academics and Marksman’s Badge for the Best Rifle Shot in that order.
