Gachagua said that the head of State has cleared the hospital bill.
“H.E President William Ruto has cleared the Hospital Bill; Thank you, President William Ruto, for coming through for Mukami Kimathi and her family. You are a true and genuine friend of our people. Be blessed abundantly. Always”, Gachagua said.
The Kenyan independence fighter Dedan Kimathiโs wife, Mukami, was held at a Nairobi hospital on January 14 because of a Ksh1 million medical debt.
Immediately upon hearing about her circumstances, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua took action.
Gachaguaย delegated the issue to Benjamin Gathiru, an MP from the Embakasi Central constituency.
Furthermore, he assured Mukami that he would pay her a personal visit to see to her needs and make sure she was feeling all right.
On January 5, Mukami was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of pneumonia; she was scheduled for release on January 12, but the hospital held her there because of the unpaid bill.
On January 14 her family issued a public plea for assistance, which was promptly responded to by the Deputy President.
This incident emphasizes the need to guarantee everyone, especially those who have served their nation, easy access to high-quality medical treatment without having to worry about the cost.
The governmentโs quick action and dedication to aiding Mukami are encouraging signs that liberation fighters will be treated with dignity and compassion.
